Tomorrow's hospitality professionals get their start with EI's high school programs.
Students are beginning career exploration earlier than ever before, and hospitality is an often overlooked career field. The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute has developed two hospitality programs to introduce high school students to the variety and opportunity available in the hospitality industry.
Skills, Tasks, and Results Training (START)
This introductory curriculum shows 9th or 10th grade students what hospitality is all about. It provides an overview of rooms division and food and beverage positions and also focuses on guest service, professionalism, and career exploration.
Lodging Management Program (LMP)
This two-year program for high school juniors and seniors provides a combination of classroom learning and real-life work experience in hospitality, and prepares young people to either enter the workforce or continue their education in a post-secondary hospitality education program.
A Complete Educational Package
EI doesn't just provide textbooks. Our high school programs include a variety of resources that help provide a rich, fulfilling educational program for both students and teachers. These resources include:
- Instructor certification
- Student certification
