TRAC (Train, Retain, Assess, and Certify)
Hospitality Skills Training and Certification
The Educational Institute and FreemanGroup, the leading provider of onsite training and measurement, have partnered to create TRAC (Train, Retain, Assess, and Certify).
The TRAC program combines knowledge and skills sections into single tasks so that all of the information needed to perform a particular task can be found in one place. It also serves as an outline for trainers and supervisors, providing specific guidance on how to train each task.
The TRAC program offers three line-level training packages for:
Each program includes:
- One Trainer’s Guide with a Job Description and Task Breakdown
Trainer’s Guide
Each TRAC trainer’s guide provides tools for systematic and detailed training of employees in that job area. It includes step-by-step instruction for successful skills training, detailed job descriptions with suggestions on how to use them for recruitment and training, knowledge and skills for all employees of a hospitality organization, and knowledge and skills for that particular job, with detailed step-by-step task breakdowns and specific trainer actions for delivering training.
Job Description
Each TRAC Trainer’s Guide contains a job description along with extensive instructions on how to customize the generic job description for the specific property while meeting the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Five Employee Reference Guides
Employee Reference Guide
The employee reference guide serves as a follow-up to training. Employees can use it as a handy reference guide that improves training retention. The guide includes the step-by-step task breakdowns of the knowledge and skills needed for employees to perform their jobs along with follow-up questions to help them review what they have learned. Employees can also use the reference guide as a resource for preparing for line-level certification.

Performance assessment and testing validates the training has occurred and that performance standards have been met.
