While Initially the program seemed overwhelming, it was important to show determination and keep focused throughout. By concentrating on one course at a time and keeping to a schedule that I had fixed from the onset, I was able to complete my courses in a reasonable timeframe. It also "helped" (and I say that figuratively) that I was virtually incapacitated for a couple of months from a major shoulder operation, free time that I used to read, read and read (on most days I'd read for over 5 hours continuously every day for the past 5 months).

In addition, having managed a few companies in my day, I was well equipped to absorb the information from many courses such as Training & Development, Supervision, HR, Accounting, Marketing, Planning & Control, Purchasing, Risk Management and Technology - these courses contained refresher material for me but in a hospitality context.

It was at times, difficult keeping my motivation up given the self-study nature of the program (courses without an instructor/professor to guide you along the way and keep you on schedule). And, I can definitely see where some students may feel the program to be a daunting task, get sidetracked, and not complete their goal. The trick I found was to compartmentalize the program and tackle one thing at a time. Before you realize it, course completion has mounted to a meaningful number which then feeds your motivation to strive further.

Nonetheless, I'm very pleased to have completed these programs, which by the way, are definitely college/university level programs in my eyes (having completed 2 degrees at a highly ranked North American university, I can say this with confidence). Most texts are well written, flow logically from chapter to chapter, each building on the other and reinforcing key information points throughout. So much great material that feeds one's need for both theory and practice.

As I develop my new career, I am sure that you will be hearing from me regarding some of your certification exams.

Kenneth Razado I want to send out my heartfelt gratitude to everyone. To my family, friends, mentors, and of course, to our Director & AHLEI Instructor, Ms. Cynthia Canizares-Funtebella -- for all your love, support, kind words of appreciation, best wishes and prayers.

I feel so blessed and very, very proud and honored to have brought pride to the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute through Naga College Foundation. I really believe, that in order to succeed, we must not only act, but also dream, not just plan, but to believe.

I will never regret entering the world of AHLEI -- When I was interviewed by Ms. Cynthia… upon entering… and I saw all AHLEI photos and excerpts around her office… I immediately fell in love with the institution, with the humble approach of our AHLEI Instructor…, where else would you find an intellectual and passionate teacher Ms. Cynthia C. Funtebella who amazingly inspired all of us, especially a guy like me… Dad… don't worry… your son will have a good future….  And where classmates call you by your first name and like we were good friends for a long time… where else would you find an administration that constantly takes time to address all our concerns and makes sure all our needs are met. ONLY IN NAGA COLLEGE!  I could go on for a whole day enumerating the number of ways our AHLEI instructor has nurtured us, cultivated and even pampered us. It is but right and good for us to give back to the NCF and AHLEI as much it has given us.

The vision of our Director is to be a center of excellence in hospitality education, and I found out, too, that the most intelligent people are here in Naga City… because for the first time in Asia that 100% of the students enrolled in AHLEI - yet the pioneer batch have made it all with honors. I feel very much delighted and privileged to have contributed partly to that dream. I am certain that the following batches to come, NCF will produce not one topnotcher, but more topnotchers, and no doubt will have a passing rate of 100% in succeeding examinations.

I studied fervently for the final exams… Ms. Cynthia amazingly conducting reviews until 12 midnight… Wow!  I worked hard on this… and I will continue until I also become a success story of the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, as well as Naga College Foundation!  So here I am… a different Kenneth now… Mabuhay ang Naga College Foundation!!!
