Orlando, Florida, May 2013—The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI) honored the Navy Lodge program with the first Military Certification Excellence Award during the Navy Lodge annual conference on April 26. The award recognizes Navy Lodge’s outstanding commitment to professional development through certification. In 2012, Navy Lodge personnel earned a remarkable 459 professional certifications from EI. Those numbers mean that more than half of Navy Lodge’s line-level employees hold a professional certification, and a third of its general managers have earned either the Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA®) or Certified Lodging Manager (CLM®) certification.
“It is a great honor to be the first recipient of this award,” stated R.J. Bianchi, Rear Admiral, SC, USN (Ret.), chief executive officer of the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM), which oversees the Navy Lodge program. “Every Navy Lodge strives to deliver quality, value, and service. This is made possible in part due to the work EI is doing by providing highly worthwhile training to our associates. Our partnership is directly benefiting our Sailors and their families by improving our service level and their quality of life.”
Al Hodge, EI’s senior director, industry sales, also presented EI’s Performance Plus Awards to three outstanding Navy Lodge properties that have demonstrated their commitment to training and professional development. This year’s award winners were:
