Lansing, Michigan, November 2008 - Responding to the industry's interest in "green" lodging, the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI) has published a new book, "High Performance Hospitality: Sustainable Hotel Case Studies." Written by Michele L. Diener, Amisha Parekh, and Jaclyn Pitera of the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan with partial funding from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF), this book offers a well-reasoned case for the hotel industry to embrace sustainability."High Performance Hospitality" presents a solid analysis of sustainable hospitality development through eight detailed case studies of successful, sustainable hotel projects representing a cross-section of hotel types: mid-size, conference center, and luxury; small and large; branded and independent. These high performance hotels have shown that properties that are designed, constructed, and operated sustainably, using energy, water, materials, and land efficiently are financially feasible. The book also addresses best practices of high performance hotels; presents a business case for sustainability, including drivers for constructing and operating sustainable hotels, market response, and stakeholder advantages; lessons learned; and opportunities for improvement.Providing "High Performance Hospitality" on CD saves paper; however, EI will also provide the book in two print formats, published on demand. There will be a black-and-white version, and also a color version, printed on post-consumer recycled paper with non-petroleum inks."High Performance Hospitality: Sustainable Hotel Case Studies" is available for the following prices:
