      Educational Institute Honors Kevin Reilly as Outstanding Distance Learning Student

      Chicago, Illinois, June 24, 2009 - Kevin Reilly, assistant front office manager at Grotto Bay Beach Resort in Bermuda, is the 2009 recipient of the Lamp of Knowledge Award for Outstanding Distance Learning Student, presented by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. Reilly received the award during the AH&LA Summer Summit in Chicago, during the AH&LA Stars of the Industry Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, June 24.

      Reilly has earned EI's 12-course Hospitality Management Diploma through the Distance Learning program, as well as five-course Certificates of Specialization in Human Resources Management and Rooms Division Management. He says that the things he learned through EI's courses helped him to make a positive difference at his property, improving communication and creating a united team among the staff. He has also used his knowledge to solve workplace challenges and advance his career. Reilly has also referred several colleagues to EI's Distance Learning program.

      Reilly began his hospitality career as a hotel security officer and discovered he had an aptitude for serving guests. He moved to the front office in order to have greater contact with guests. During his 16-year career, he has worked as a night auditor, guest service agent, front office supervisor, and most recently, assistant front office manager. He has worked for several chains, including Howard Johnson, Novotel, Holiday Inn, and Courtyard by Marriott.
