The Certified Restaurant Server exam covers 22 key areas, including:
- Demonstrating how to greet and seat guests and anticipate guest needs
- Explaining how to serve beverages, serve the meal, and check back to the table
- Listing basic kitchen safety and sanitation guidelines servers should follow
- Explaining how to present guest checks and settle bills
Those who complete the START or quickSTART program for Restaurant Server are prepared to take the Restaurant Server certification exam. The certification exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. A score of 70% or higher is needed to earn the certification.
Successful candidates who complete the training and pass the certification exam will receive a certificate and lapel pin.
If you do not pass the certification examination the first time, you may retake it.
